Beautiful Tuross Head
Tuross Head is aesthetically one of the most beautiful and picturesque headlands in the country.
The Tuross Estuary to the south and Coila Lake to the north flank Tuross Head with Ocean beaches across the eastern foreshores.
One of the most important recreational attributes of the Tuross estuary and Coila Lake is its magnificent views over the water, and the ability of the community to appreciate these views whilst walking and or riding around the estuary foreshores. A diversity of native habitat including wetlands, rainforest, riverbanks, dunes, rocky outcrops and tidal waters, provides homes for a large variety of local and migratory birds, especially waders in the lakes, as well as kangaroos, wallabies, reptiles, amphibians and marine life.
Coila Lake has a mix of uses - it continues to support commercial fishing, which focuses on the Eastern King Prawn. The Lake and its foreshores also support a large range of passive recreational activities, including canoeing, kayaking, sailing, sail boarding, swimming, bird watching and picnicking.
